We are running our very popular half-term writing workshops again this February half-term.
During the workshop, the students will be working through a series of activities to inspire their content and refine their writing skills, thinking about how to express their ideas and write it in an original way that stands out. These are skills that can be used in school immediately!
Year 6 SATs and 11+ Comprehension: Monday 18th - 9:30 - 12:30 - NOW FULL
We will help you learn to identify key information in a passage. You will work on literal, inferential and evaluative style questions with one of our expert English teachers. We will give them strategies to answer questions quickly and efficiently in order to gain the most marks possible in their SATS and 11+ exams.
AQA GCSE Poetry Workshop: Monday 18th - 13:00 - 16:00
Led by our expert English teacher who is also an experienced AQA examiner, our poetry workshop will support students with their anthology as well as looking at how to answer the ‘unseen poetry’ questions as fully as possible.
SATS Maths Workshop: Tuesday 19th - 9:30 - 12:30
During our year 6 SATs maths workshop, students will look at exam strategy and how to manage their time. They will work through a SATs style maths paper and look at how to answer questions ensuring that they achieve the maximum marks available.
GCSE Maths Exam Prep Workshop:
- Higher and Foundation: Thursday 21st - 13:00 - 16:00
These Maths workshops focus on revision techniques where students will be shown how to identify problem areas and how to address these weaknesses. How to approach exam strategies to gain the most marks possible on the day. A revision schedule will be discussed.
11+ and Year 6 Writing workshop: Wednesday 20th - 9:30 - 12:30 - NOW FULL
Here at Kip we have developed a writing technique that helps to make writing more manageable. We find that lots of our children find it difficult to know where to start with their writing as they want to include all the literary elements they have learned. Our writing technique makes writing more ‘formulaic’ so that the students can follow 3 simple steps to ensure that their writing ‘ticks the boxes’ needed to get the highest marks that they can.
AQA & Edexcel GCSE English Language Writing Workshop: Wednesday 20th - 13:00 - 16:00
Our GCSE students can attend this workshop to help them to improve their skills for creative, imaginative and non fiction writing for the AQA and Edexcel exam. Our specialist English teacher will offer advice and tips that will help our students gain as many marks as they can.
Year 2 and 3 Writing Workshop: Thursday 21st - 9:30 - 12:30 NOW FULL
The year 2 and 3 writing workshop focuses on teaching children how to identify and include different word types and add more detail to their writing in line with the national curriculum. We also aim to expose children to a wider vocabulary that they can then start to include in their own writing. Each child is extended from their own unique starting point to ensure progress within the session.
Years 4 and 5 Writing Workshop: Thursday 21st - 9:30 - 12:30
Our year 4 and 5 writing workshop helps students who are struggling to get their ideas down on paper. At Kip we have developed a writing technique that helps to make writing more manageable by teaching them a 'formulaic' writing strategy. This will give them the tools and confidence they need to write creatively.
11+ CSSE Maths Exam Prep workshop: Friday 22nd - 9:30 - 12:30
During our 'walking, talking' CSSE Maths Paper workshop, the student will be able to look at how to manage their time and how to answer question with different mark values. They will have the opportunity to discuss with other students how they 'attack' the papers and share good practice as well as learning 'top tips' from the teacher.
