What subjects do you teach?

English and Maths

Do you tutor exam preparation for selective school entrance?

Yes, but we would strongly recommend that you contact us well in advance to give your child the best chance of success, allowing them to prepare thoroughly without putting too much stress on them.

How do I know if my child is having trouble with their school work and what can I do about it?

Parents evenings are often the best way to understand as to whether your child is struggling in their studies. You can also try communicating with them and finding out what areas of Maths and English they struggle with in their homework. Constantly asking for help, tears and tantrums or having to constantly nag them to get them to their homework can all be telltale signs that the work is getting too hard for them.

How do I know that my child will improve?

We guarantee to work with your child until they feel confident to flourish and no longer feel daunted by the prospect of the problematic area. Our tutoring combined with school work and extra homework from ourselves and school will help your child instantly improve both academically and in self-confidence.

How long will it take to solve my child’s needs?

Every child is different, so it’s important they come in for a free assessment so we can come up with a plan and targets for them to work towards. There is no contract or obligation to attend for a long period of time, but we’ll regularly provide parental feedback so you know exactly how your child is doing.

Can you tutor my child with a disability?

We’ve taught children with ADHD, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Autism and others in the past. But it’s very important you get in touch and set up an interview with us, so we can establish whether we can effectively tutor him/her. We want to offer the best for your child, so this is a very important process, but we’re always willing to go the extra mile regardless of any disabilities. Please call us on 01277 554 031 for more details.

Do you tutor from home?

No. All of our tutoring is done in our centre so your child has access to all of our top learning packages and technology in an optimal learning environment, without any distractions.

How long is each lesson?

60 minutes. The lessons are broken up in 10-15 minute activities so your child never gets bored.

What times are the sessions held?

There are a variety of times available; Monday to Saturday, please get in touch to find out more. Call us on 01277 554 031.

Will my child get homework?

Yes. Homework is an essential part of Kip McGrath Tuition, particularly for the reading aspect of tuition. We are aware of other homework from school, so we only set a limit of around half an hour to an hour’s work each week. If you have difficulty getting your child to complete the homework, please speak to us.

How should I help my child during my child’s tuition at Kip McGrath?

Inform your child’s school teacher they’re attending extra tuition so you can be informed with any improvements and areas which need attention outside of school hours. With homework, ensure you set a distraction-free environment for your child to learn in.

At Kip McGrath, students are encouraged and developed in a structured yet relaxed environment. They utilise written, visual and audio/IT packages allowing the children to experience different learning styles and develop confidence in all areas. Kip supports the Primary Curriculum by teaching foundational skills that once secured, are then developed. Each child is treated as an individual and has a programme of development that is assessed and changed as needed. A superb concept.
